Juston Kolb to Play Concert in Chicago May 3
On Saturday May 3rd, 2014 at 7:30pm, pianist Justin Kolb will collaborate with Michael Teolis and the "Michael Teolis Singers" as soloist in Peter Schickele's Concerto for Piano and Chorus: The Twelve Months." Tickets are priced at $18 General Admission and $12 Seniors/students w/ID $12. The pianist will visit Chicago schools the preceding week.
Cited for "a winning combination of brilliance and affection" by John von Rhein of the Chicago Tribune, Kolb's program will feature unlikely works by established composers, and the program is fittingly titled, "Look What Else They Wrote." This unique spring concert will include a popular song written by the esteemed British choral director and composer, Sir David Willcocks: "You Bring Me Happiness"; an arrangement of "Younger Generation," a song written by Aaron Copland, to the words of Ira Gershwin; "Two Churches," from Four New England Pieces for chorus, by American jazz pianist Dave Brubeck; a "Te Deum" written by the "March King," John Philip Sousa; and other unique selections by Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, and jazz great George Shearing. The chorus' grand finale will be Peter Schickele's Concerto for Piano and Chorus: The Twelve Months, featuring Justin Kolb (Justin Kolb.
